Magic The Gathering and Tomb Raider are two highly popular franchises in the world of mainstream pop culture. Now, for fans of both epics, the worlds are colliding with Miss Lara Croft getting her own set of cards showing her unified depiction. Here is the Tomb Raider Magic The Gathering cards release date along with the price and how to buy. They will only be available for a limited time, so you will need to be quick with your purchase.

There hasn’t been a new game released this year, but 2023 has still been busy for fans of the British heroine. Tomb Raider celebrated its 27th year anniversary back in October, there was a Call of Duty and Tomb Raider crossover, and Crystal Dynamics delighted the world with the announcement of Tomb Raider 1-3 remasters for February 2024. We have also gotten a look at the Netflix anime series starring Hayley Atwell, and it promises to bridge the gap between survivor and classic Lara Croft.

In addition to all of the above, there’s a slight chance Crystal Dynamics may reveal a first look at the confirmed TR12 sequel at The Game Awards 2023. This confirmed sequel takes place after Tomb Raider Underworld, and it will star unified Lara Croft. We’ve seen unified Lara Croft in the Call of Duty crossover, and she also can be seen in the spectacular art of the Magic The Gathering cards.

Tomb Raider Magic The Gathering cards release date

The release date for the Tomb Raider Magic The Gathering cards is November 20th as confirmed in the official announcement. It comes with the following items:

  • 1x Lara Croft, Tomb Raider
  •  1x Search for Azcanta // Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin as “Heart of the Explorer // The Lost Valley”
  •  1x Anger of the Gods as “Storms of Yamatai”
  •  1x Bow of Nylea as “The Grim Whisper”
  •  1x Shadowspear as “Totec’s Spear”
  •  1x Academy Ruins as “Kitezh, Sunken City”
  •  1x Treasure token

There is an emphasis on survivor Lara with cards such as The Storm of Yamatai, but what’s most interesting is that the depicted Lara Croft is the unified depiction we can perhaps expect to see in TR12. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that they are unifying the timelines (survivor, classic, legend) with the survivor origin canon, and they have shown artwork for a unified Lara before. In the Magic The Gathering cards, she rocks the tank top and cargo shorts combination once more, and she also wields the dual pistols while sporting a long braid and her famous backpack. However, as a nod to the survivor trilogy, she also has the ice axe introduced in TR 2013 along with the jade necklace given to her by Sam.

Price and how to buy

The Tomb Raider Magic The Gathering cards will become available to buy from MagicSecretLair at 9 AM PT/ 12 PM ET/ 5 PM GMT on November 20th. This is the only place you will be able to buy the set at launch. As for price, non-foil is $39.99, and traditional foil is $49.99. The cards are said to be ‘only available for a limited time,’ so you will need to buy them as quickly as possible.

As per usual, the cards look great. The artwork is absolutely stunning, and they do a great job of representing the grittiness of the survivor trilogy. A more retro and classic look would’ve been nice, but at least we get another glimpse of unified Lara. If this design is what we will get in the next Tomb Raider game, then old-school classic and modern survivor fans should both be happy.
